Multinational Enterprises:An Alternative Approach of Financing Poverty Reduction
The issue of global poverty amplified by recent financial and economic crises has reanimated the debate on the contribution of Multinational Enterprises (MNEs) to poverty reduction through Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). While some academics reported positive effects of FDI on economic growth and poverty reduction, others showed negative and mixed effects. Nevertheless, the impacts of FDI on growth and poverty depend on many factors. In the book Multinational Enterprises: An Alternative Approach of Financing Poverty Reduction, the author Eric Mulumba Zozo exposes mechanisms that link FDI and poverty, potential FDI effects on poverty and finally proposes strategies that would enhance contribution of MNEs on poverty reduction.
